Well, just offered $150 and was accepted. I guess I have a server on the way…
First official server product purchase.
I should be able to throw in a spare HDD for boot and then use the 4 SATA hot swap bays for ZFS storage under Ubuntu, right? I’m thinking just a simple setup of samba shares and docker stack.
Total package is cheaper than buying the parts separately and it should just work. Happy days.
Unraid does cost money, but ultimately it will save you even more. You can use differently sized drives in the array, and add drives one at a time. Not many other storage solutions let you do that, certainly not Proxmox.
For anyone else who bought one, mine did not include drive caddys (one bay was empty, the other three were filled with blanks). I ordered a set of 4 here: Amazon.com; hope these are the right ones.
