Help setting up Adaptec 71605

That’s the BIOS settings, you’ll need, to see the CTRL-A option in the beginning of the boot process:

  1. CSM Settings: Launch CSM set to “Enabled”; Boot Device Control at “UEFI and Legacy OPROM”; Boot from Network Devices at “Ignore or UEFI”; Boot Storage Devices at “UEFI only”; PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices at “Legacy only”.

  2. Reboot PC and Edit BIOS “Boot” CSM Setting again: change only Boot from Storage Devices setting it to “Legacy only”. Save BIOS and Restart the PC.

With Windows 11 (this is not for your case): the Boot Option #1 must remain to “Windows Boot Manager” and Boot Option #2 to the Adaptec Raid Controller.

I saw that you were trying to use the RAID controller as HBA and to configure it with mdadm (software based RAID). This is going to work only if you are going to configure the controller in that mode from the CTRL-A menu - more info here.
