Oh wow. A lot of good stuff @MAGADE! Thank you. You might inspire me to get my Gigabyte board down and retry. I have spent so many hours with no luck except! The last time I got it to boot and was able to get into the BIOS. But it hung on β€œWaiting for BMC initializing” or something similar. That was after I flashed a new bios chip and stuck it in the bios socket. Let me read your posts again. I might need you my friend!

After much trial and error I was able to reflash the firmware using the method in the first post. Apparently the label on the board BMC_JTAG and BMC_UART are the same, and both are accessed using a UART cable. You can use a multimeter to tell which pin is ground, and beside the ground pin is Tx/Rx. The pin that is all the way on the other side from ground will likely fry your serial adapter, so avoid it and make sure to use a multimeter

However, even after successful firmware recovery something is wrong… My FRU information is gone on the chip… I don’t know how to flash it back, and the update package gigabyte provides only has a generic black FRU file that I don’t know how to flash. Likely as a result, when the server boots the VGA display out has weird color glitching and the BMC crashes

Hello,

I’m stuck with a bricked Gigabyte MD90-FS0 BMC. Thanks to Johannes and Magage I was able to flash the BMC and get it to boot again. My MB has 3 different firmware versions. However no matter which version I flash with I constantly get a reboot loop on the uboot. The web page access is available for some time and then it crashes. I have tried to flash via the web gui without preserving the setting but I still have the same issue.

has anyone faced a similar issue and has been able to resolve it?
