so i’ve been seeing on reddit people are transcoding 4k with tone mapping to 1080p with intel cpus only
the threads are oldish so i was wondering what is the current best setup for this situation?
not all tvs are 4k and some dont have receivers so the sound will get transcoded.

The issue isn’t that it won’t do it. The issue is that it looks like shit. This link has only one “yeah it’s fine” with no screenshots of actual image quality.
Transcoding 4k isn’t the issue. The issue is that the HDR to add conversion is terrible if you’re not color blind
