Someone on discord confirmed this would work for other setups. I can only imagine it would work in this situation as well. It’s also exactly everything I purchased, so once my 8088 to 8087 comes in I can let you know.
Just got it all and set it up on my HP expander. Works great.

Turns out you only need 1 SFF-8088, the second one is for redundancy. Plugging into the single SFF-8088 on the HP Extender is good enough.
I wish I bought one of these!
Sorry to revive old thread. Does anyone that bought this know if other drive caddies are compatible with this? The vtrak caddies are hard to find at a sane price.
People who have been rocking these for a while, how reliable have they been? I have one and I am having major issues. The one I got came with two controllers and two PSUs, and I have tried all possible combinations of those.
I have also tried swapping the HBA I am connecting with (to a completely different model too) and trying another server entirely. The drives just keep dropping off the HBA, sometimes after a while, sometimes immediately and sometimes only after a reboot. Suspecting a backplane issue as it affects random drives.
Sucks because I invested in this, used it for about a year no issues and I cannot afford to replace it nor can I find a backplane for it as a replacement.
