The majority of the listings have Windows preinstalled, I was wondering if it’s ok to just host it on Windows and what are the advantages/disadvantages of doing so? I see Linux always getting recommended here so I just want to know why.
Windows is not recommended in the quicksync guide.

Not sure. You can ask in that thread… But you’ll also see if you search for windows in the thread it’s repeatedly asked and independent of a transcode limit, windows still isn’t recommended.
I use linux for my emby hosting, it seems more stable. and the hardware acceleration works.
despite my best efforts windows just reboots once in a while.
That’s already a good enough reason to use Linux. Thanks!
