pfSense_WAAAT Build

This is my mostly complete still a work in progress pfsense build.

Component Part Name Price
Case Goodisory A01 Aluminum 48
CPU(s) Intel Xeon E3-1260L 1155 Processor 44
CPU Cooler(s) Noctua NH-L9i 38
Mobo Intel DQ77KB Mini ITX LGA1155 Motherboard 61
RAM Samsung / HP 4GB Kit - 2x 2GB DDR3 1333mhz 8
PSU T POWER UL Listed (19v 65w-90w) Ac Adapter 20
Storage - SSD SSD SATA mSATA 60GB Dogfish Internal Solid State Drive 19
Other Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX 13
Total 251

I haven’t put this into service yet because I still need to take care of the wifi portion of the network. But it is currently running pfsense.

I am also looking to put a 4 port nic in the case but it is challenging because of the cases size constraints.

I also printed a new lid to support the addition of a small 40mm cooling fan to keep the system cooler. During my initial testing, I found that the case was getting quite warm. The addition of the fan appears to do a nice job of keeping it much cooler. I don’t have actual temp readings for comparison unfortunately.

EDIT: I have officially migrated this system in to service. Working great!

This was actually a very nice build, your components are “old” thus cheap and for a pfsense box they make sense since nothing is overpowered there.
