So I took the plunge and decided to try and build my own NAS based on this guide. I have the motherboard, CPU, RAM and power supply all assembled on my table top, but I cannot get it it to boot up. Here is a breakdown of the parts I’m using:
- Motherboard - Supermicro X9SCM-F
- CPU - Intel Xeon E3-1270 V2
- RAM - 16GB (2x 8GB) 240-Pin ECC Unbuffered DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800E)
- Power supply - EVGA W1 500 Watt
So when I turn it on, the CPU fan turns on, the power LED is solid green and the IPMI LED blinks green. Then shortly after that, I hear 4 quick, consecutive beeps and I get no VGA output to my monitor. I tried swapping the ram around to different slots and in different configurations and even tried to clear the CMOS, but nothing changed.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on? Any suggestions on what to try next?
