I was looking at these from #techdeals.
Wondering if you could take a hacksaw to the case right behind the fan wall. Scrap the back half. Plug in an ATX power supply and hook it up to another server with an SAS card. Seems like a cheap way to hack together a DAS and add 12 more HDD bays.
Anyone know if these are the right trays?
Maybe something like this would be a better option.
That 10 pin power on the backplane, I don’t know if it is HP proprietary or if someone has made an ATX adapter of some sort for it…
Yeah that’s a good point. Looks like there are 10pin HP branded cables available on eBay. I could probably hack one together but if you get the pinout wrong that would be bad.
