I really need help in getting a emby server up. I’ve recently bought a Synology DS218 and quickly learned that it wasn’t going to cut it for my needs.
I’ve never built a server or know much about them but i have some experience in building/fixing normal computers.
Purpose:
Be able to hand 1080p by maximum 6 users for now but possibly more in the future.
Maybe 4k if possible but more down the road.
Up gradable down the road if needed.
parts list i pieced together using JDM_WAAAT Anniversary 2.0 “SNAFU”
Cpu: x2 Intel Xeon E5-2650 V2
Cpu cooler: x2 Arctic Freezer 12- Semi passive Tower CPU cooler
Motherboard: supermicro X9DRL-iF dual socket R LGA 2011 Server Motherboard C602
PSU: EVGA 750 B5
Ram: x2 HP compatible 16gb pc3-8500 DDR3-1066 4Rx4 1.5 ECC Registered RDIMM
Fans: Artic P12 Value pack x5
Storage: Seagate IronWolf 8TB NAS internal Hard Drive (ST8000VN004)
Case: NZXT H510 (only thing I have on hand but should work for now I hope)
questions:
Would this build work in general?
What software is needed?
I really have zero experience when it comes to server side hardware and software. So really need your guys help.
