Could use some guidance on what ram I should be using together with X9DRH-iTF I’m second guessing myself after not finding all the info on some of the ebay listings  Any advice? Looking to get around 64gb

If I were you I’d go for the cheapest 2 x 32GB sticks I can get.

M386B4G70BM0-YH90Q

M386B4G70DM0-CMA4

Either one of these will work just fine!

Dove headfirst into my first server build. I ended up grabbing a x9DRE-TF+ for a really good price, matched pair of e5-2640, 64gb 1333 ecc ram, going to shoe horn it into a rosewill rise. Let’s see how this goes!

Hi,

I’m new to build a server…but today i purchased a SuperMicro X10SRH-CF/CLN4F server…

I would appreciate all the help to build this server …do i need to follow all the steps from 2nd Step.

Thanks JDM_WAAAT for this wonderful site…

Thanks,
Shan

@kshan That motherboard doesn’t apply to this build guide. If you’d like general advice I’d ask Technology > Buy Curious

@JDM_WAAAT he sata cards you listed, specifically the 2 and 4 port cards. Aren’t they only pcie 1x? If that’s the case, wouldn’t it be saturated by 2 hdds or ssds out of the gate? I’ve seen alot of people say that you have to have at least a pcie2x card for ssds to reach full potential. Any way for you to to test? Thanks for the awesome guides!

PCIe 3.0 x1 is in fact only capable of about 8Gbps or 990MB/s. Which is plenty for 4 HDD or 2 SSD.

If you were going to 4 SSD, I’d probably recommend other options, but keep in mind it’s probably unlikely that you’ll be using all 4 of them at 100% at the same time, so I doubt you’d notice in that case.

I didn’t look at it at that factor. You use these in your production at all? Just want some credibility after looking at the data sheets for these chips

Yup, I use them.

A post was split to a new topic: Anniversary 2.0 - not booting into windows

Does the Lenovo D30 have 6 3.5" bays like the chart says? I only see 5 when I Google it, and 5 ports on the motherboard.
