So I have been lurking JDM_WAAAT sub reddit for a while. I think I have been lurking this forum since it’s birth. I finally made an account and started asking questions as I am inching closer to a DIY NAS build.
In my homelab I currently have a QNAP TS-851 that is almost out of capacity. I could upgrade the dives to newer (larger) ones but I have decided to build my own instead. So in short I am interested in big beefy storage with lots of drive bays.
Professionally, I work as a system engineer. Ironically I specialize in enterprise storage (mostly EMC) but all that comes pre-engineered and pre-assembled so this DIY experience will actually be fun.
