First build, is motherboard bunk?

I have a supermicro X9slr-f. I’ve connected a monitor and psu. IPMI “heartbeat” indicator light is blinking. I try shorting pins 1 and 2 with a screwdriver to power on and nothing happens. This is my first build. Am I missing something or is the motherboard just junk? Attached is screenshot of manual for motherboard indicating pin layout.

Yeah! It came with cpu, cooler, ram already equipped.

Got it! Turns out inserting the secondary power connector upside down will impact it’s ability to power on…whoops…
