Hey everyone! New to the forum so feel free to let me know if I’m posting in the wrong section. I am considering running a dedicated server that will be utilized as a backup for my gaming computer. I already have BackBlaze, but I thought it’d be fun to try and run my own local backup as well. I’ve seen people use a Synology machines as a local backup, but I was wondering if the 6 bay mini ITX NAS that got posted on the NAS Killer 4.0 build would work just as well. I’ve heard of people using rclone to make backups of entire machines, but I could be misunderstanding. If anyone has any experience with dedicated backup servers feel free to suggest different options if I’m missing something easy.
It would work a hell of a lot better actually. It’ll take a little more configuring and building on your end, but it will be magnitudes faster than an off the shelf Synology unit.
