CMOS battery: BR2032 vs CR2032?

I got a second hand motherboard (Super Micro X11SCV-Q), and I suspect the CMOS battery needs to be replaced. It came with a BR2032 coin battery.
Can I substitute a CR2032 because it supplies the same voltage?

The manufacturer’s user’s manual I found online provided no guidance, just said to make sure to use the right one lol.

I read that the operating temperature range on the BR- is higher, does that just mean the CR- wouldn’t last a long but is ok in the short term (or will it damage the motherboard)?

I’m not really sure what the difference is between BR2032 and CR2032, I assume a different material but same size and voltage?

In any case I have used CR2032 in other Supermicro motherboards without issue, I think you will be fine to use that.

That’s my understanding as well (they’re indistinguishable to me aside from the etched text).

Yay that’s great to hear!
