[CA] ASUS motherboard Z9PR-D12 Socket 2011 w/ 2 x Xeon E5-2620 - $139 + shipping

Seems like a really good deal, beware of slightly odd layout. Square ILM

Info:

Just as an aside, how do these compare to supermicro boards? It seems they have the value equation sorted.

I mean, mostly this is a deal for CA, but I guess they do ship to the US.

They are OK boards, they have a funky layout so it can be a bit of an issue especially for longer expansion cards.

I live in Toronto and just bought one of these. Thanks for the tip! I’m going to put it in a Define 7 XL case with 12 NAS HDDs.

I’m trying to figure out what memory I should buy to go with it:

16GB (4x4GB) Hynix 2Rx4 PC3-10600R 1333MHz DDR3 ECC

or

16GB (4x4GB) Hynix 2Rx8 PC3-10600R 1333MHz DDR3 ECC

The difference is the 2Rx4 vs. the 2Rx8.

I’ve been Googling and got a (very) basic understanding of the differences. But I’m looking in the manual for the motherboard and it’s not saying anything about compatibility.

@JDM_WAAAT is one better than the other? Are they both compatible? I don’t mind the cost either way.

I bought that board just over a month ago and had quite a difficult time getting it to run with the RAM I have. As I mentioned over here, it seems to prefer PC3L DIMMs (at least out of the stuff I have):
