Hi everyone,
I’m working on my first NAS build and wanted to get some feedback from the community. I’ve chosen my parts based on the nas killer 6.0 guide, but I’m wondering if there’s anything I should consider adding, changing, or optimizing. Also, if there are any tips for cutting costs without significantly compromising performance or reliability, I’d really appreciate your input.
Okay, I’ve been looking for a similar case. Ty for the recommendation!
You are buying a ton of capacity. Do you know how much you need? Like how much data do you have and how fast does it grow?
You can save money with used case. Also possibly even used mobo/ram/CPU especially if you find something locally on offer up/Facebook marketplace etc.
Regarding the drives, you can save over terabyte by buying smaller capacity drives and also by getting used refieb drives (my largest drives I bought last year are 14tb). Yes there is a consideration of the ancillary costs per drive of electiediciw and chassis/interface space, but this gets back to “how much storage do you need”
If the data is important remember to have a backup strategy for it not just raid
