Modifications

Problems

  • Had the charge pipe blow off while cruising at 65 MPH on the highway. (about 1 year into ownership)
    • Dealer reattached the charge pipe and used a new clamp (no cost to me)
  • The charge pipe blew off again about 3 weeks later.
    • Dealer replaced entire charge pipe and fittings on either end. (no cost to me)
  • No other issues with charge pipe since then.
  • 9/6/2019 - came back from 2 week vacation, car says “oil change required”. I suspect that the oil change interval was not reset at the last service, since it’s not due for another 3k miles.
  • No other issues

Notes

Picking up the car from the dealership

I still am not a huge fan of the polished black / machined wheels…

Installed the wing riser

At the PA Grand Canyon, coming home from STPR

Swapped over to 2013 Focus ST snowflakes - not my favorite wheels, but better.

At the PA Grand Canyon, exactly one year later. Coming home from STPR

Found an X-bow in town

New wheels and tires for Pennsylvania’s “bullshit seasons” (aka October to March)

OEM Setup:

Wheels: Ford Focus ST “Snowflake” in Silver (18x8 ET55)
Tires: Pirelli P Zero Nero (235/40r18)

New Setup:

Wheels: Method MR502 in Titanium Gray (17x8 ET38)
Tires: Nokian WR G4 (235/45r17)

The new wheels and tires flush out the wheel well perfectly. Definitely going to need some mud flaps to protect the body with the amount of tire sticking out over the bottom of the car. Tires are infinitely more comfortable (mostly due to downsizing) and are much quieter too.

I’d like to replace the ugly silver lugs with some black ones, but that’s pretty low priority. Car is super dirty, but at least the wheels and tires are clean!

I think the car looks great in the gloomy seasons. I think I’m going to need some mud flaps, the wider setup is spraying water all over

I have a 2017 Focus ST3. Same color and the polished black wheels. I haven’t done any mods to it yet, but it’s super fun to drive!

Mine came with the polished black too! Share some pics!

From today. I’m at about 30 kilomiles.

Very nice, love those wheels man, the bronco is going to look great parked next to it. The scenery is pretty nice too I guess.

of DD cars I’ve owned I have to say I really enjoyed our Focus - that I actually bought for the wifey.

great fun was very reliable. I’ve been tempted a few time to get into a focus RS.
