Shuckables and smr

It seems on serverbuilds.net, there is plenty of willingness to use shuckable drives. Clearly people do not get burned doing this.

There has been an issue with SMR drives, simply not being labelled as SMR.

How much of the time is it a problem when shuckable drives turnout to be SMR? Are they always SMR or never SMR or a mix?

Seem the FreeNAS/TrueNAS home server community are a bit upset about SMR drives, as they don’t go well with ZFS. Seems the serverbuilds.net community are more Unraid focussed. Is SMR not a bother for Unraid in the way it is for ZFS?

No shuckable that is 8TB or larger is SMR. We avoid this issue by not recommending anyone get drives smaller than 8TB.
