Rack Mounting the Rosewill RSV-L4500

Yes, I’ve tried them, and unfortunately they don’t work with the L4500. The depth isn’t the issue, it’s the inner rails that don’t extend out far enough, so the last 2 inches of your chassis are stuck inside the rack. If you don’t have anything in the 1-2U directly above it, you might be able to sneak the lid off if you wiggle it back and forth a bit, but otherwise you’d need to pull the chassis completely out every time you need to perform maintenance.

Gotcha! That is great info! Thank you!

Great post! Used your information for my RSV-R4000, two notes I want to share:

  • If your case is threaded for M4 screws: 6mm is the shortest and ideal length, you might be able to get away with 10 or 12mm. 16mm is too long, it hits the power supply and optical drive cage.
  • For the shorter R4000 none of the three aft holes line up with those on the rails; I ended up temporarily installing the inner rails, and marked the last hole on both sides to drill them out. (The two others in that group would interfere with the latches.) This way the back of the case - where most components are - is supported properly.

For anyone tracking this thread, the TC-RAIL-26 are back in stock at B&H (albeit on a few week backorder).

EDIT: Now backorder until Sept!

Were you or anyone else able to use this method successfully on a RSV-4412?

Yes, It worked out perfectly! I highly recommend it.

This was immensely helpful. Thank you!

Managed to find the Navepoint 26 on eBay a month back – finally got around to the install. It went perfectly, following your guide.

ok I am having issues, it just wont slide in the rails.
what am I doing wrong ? is rack rails reversed , left and right ?

solved. and it works fine. the shelf was blocking the case from going in

Just wondered if anyone could give me a few pointers, on what are likely rookie questions.

Height and depth of a rack I can get my heas around, what I’m not so sure about is what I need to consider regarding the width.

From what I can see racks come in all kinds of different widths - am I right in thinking I need to pick a rack with a specific sized width to use with this chassis and the iStar rails discussed above?

If so, what sort of size should I be looking for rack wise?

Or can you use any rack size with any device with adaptors or something like that?

Hope that makes sense!

Any racks that we recommend are standard rack width and will fit any of the chassis we talk about here (unless otherwise noted).

And as for other equipment like switches, modems, routers, etc., some of them are directly rack mountable and will include a set of “rack ears”, which are angled brackets that attach to the sides of the equipment to make it the standard 19" width. You can also sometimes find 3D printable mounts for lighter equipment like modems or Raspberry Pi boards… For anything else, you will need to either get a rack shelf, or set it on top of other equipment. Basically, you can put pretty much anything in your rack if you want to.

Thanks so much for the replies, that’s really helpful and now I know what to look for!:+1:

i need help with the same case, i used to use those rails but i had to change them. please watch the video. hopefully you will understand the problem. only idea i have is to bend the rails which i think wont be easy

13 minutes it way too long to parse through. Some pictures would be helpful.

Will the iStarUSA rails support the rsv-4500 fully loaded with 15 drives extended? That seems like a lot of weight to hold up at the front of the chassis.

Yeah, it’ll hold a fully loaded L4500, fully extended with no issues. I’ve pulled mine out for maintenance a handful of times and it doesn’t flex or bow, it glides in and out smoothly every time.

What would the minimum rack depth be for this setup? I set my adjustable rack to 28" but I’m not sure if that’s deep enough or if I should extend it.
