What did you end up doing? I’m using i3-9100s right now, was thinking about going up to a 9700. The 290 specs here list CPUs up to 65W TDP and the i7-8700. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05991290

I’d think an i7-9700 would be fine, and maybe even the 9900, but I’d lean away from the K CPUs…

I can’t imagine there’s a problem with the 8500. I’m using the newer i3-9100 no-problem.

Anyone ever notice that the m.2 NVMe slot is only PCIe x2 width? Bandwidth isn’t everything, but it would probably help since I’m running Proxmox with Ceph, using the NVMe slot for Ceph storage.
