Seeing a few people here opting for PWM fans for cooling, I’m not really seeing the point. I’ve opted for the non-PWM Noctua 40x10mm (was same price as the PWM one, so I guess there’s no harm in it, either way). I’ve run multiple smaller Noctua fans before and they’re pretty quiet even at full blast, so that’s how I plan to run this fan. Going to try the cable tie route tonight - If I’m not happy with it, I’ll try some M3 screws.
I have an Adaptec 8405E, when I try to switch from RAID to HBA, I get an error that I need to delete all volumes and uninitialize all drives.
Even if I delete and uninitialize all volumes first, this message appears. According to the menu, it still stays in HBA mode, but does not work with LTFS, which requires HBA mode.
Any idea? Otherwise I will switch to an LSI with IT mode firmware.
Great card… I recently bought a Broadcom HBA 9500-8i, and never looked back. They are cheap on Ali at the moment. Needs far less cooling, double as fast per port, lower energy use and Tri Mode support.
Does anyone know if the ASR-78165 supports lower C-States? I know there have been issues with some HBAs preventing C-States, specifically the LSI 9200’s. I believe the issue is that these cards do not support ASPM. I have been unable to determine if these Adaptec cards support ASPM and lover C-States and was curious if anyone here might know.
