I’m planning on turning my old gaming rig that has become primarily a Plex Server and light use PC into a NAS. I’ve got a handful of drives ready to go and looking at the above guide I plan on making the Unraid Build do the following:
- Plex with a handful of remote streams
- NextCloud
- Radar/Sonarr
- VM for basic computing
Do you think I should upgrade the i5-3750K to a 3770 or a Xeon to help with the VMs?

It doesn’t seem like there’s much of a reason for the GTX 1070, you’d probably be better server by upgrading the CPU to an i7-3770.
Also… Are you going for a ASROCK board or a Supermicro board?

Awesome! I was planning on using the ASRock motherboard I already have, the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4. It was listed wrong in the table.
Just wanted to let you know that I moved your post and the subsequent replies to a new topic, so it’s easier to follow.

Thanks so much for your help! I do have another question about that GTX 1070. If I were to keep it, what would be the main uses?
I was seeing VM pass through or additional Plex transcoding.
