I’m looking for a entry level raid/hba card for my build…I’m still undecided on FreeNAS vs Unraid fwiw but I’m also still kinda confused on these cards which ones need IT mode and which ones can be crossflashed to IT mode.

Would this be a decent entry level card setup?

Why buy that when you can get a -8i for almost the same price. Twice the ports

Well heck I was looking for the unicorn card with all the cables and such for 15 bucks. I wasn’t concerned about 8 ports but I guess if I got to buy one then I’ll probably do that.

Yeah, in the guides we have links to all of the 8i cards that are cheap. I’d use one of those, it’s a better use of the slot.
