Howdy, folks!
I’m looking for advice on a server build that will meet the requirements of everything I want to run on it. I’ve built my share of PCs, but have very little knowledge on server hardware.
I want the core of the server to run ESXi. From there, I want to visualize the following:
FreeNAS for home file server
- Ubuntu with containers running PleX, Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett
- Ubuntu for various productivity things
In addition, if there are enough resources available, I would also like to run:
- Windows Server supporting 1 or 2 clients for home learning environment
- DNS/DHCP servers
What type of hardware am I looking at?
I’m flexible on the housing. It can be a tower or rack style. While I don’t have an unlimited budget, I’m OK spending a bit more on hardware if it saves me on electricity costs in the long run.
