Doesn’t seem to be the case.

• I’ve used all kinds of shucked drives in this server without a single one needing a 3.3v modification
• Most posts seem to indicate that the use of a backplane will negate the need for 3.3v modification (which the r510 has - at least, my 12-bay does)
• The drives spin up, which from what I can tell online, they would not do if there was 3.3v on the reset pin

what’s the sas controller on that r510? some of them, especially the old percs, may have limitations.
