I finally completed assembling the server. I had to return the Noctua NH-U14S as it was a tad too tall for the case. I ended up getting the Noctua NH-L9i. I also returned the Gelid thermal compound as the Noctua came with their own brand and the reviews are pretty good.
I completely forgot that I didn’t have a computer monitor (haven’t owned a PC in 5 years). I went out to Goodwill and bought one that powered up for $7.
I had issues following most linked guides to flashing the SAS controller to IT mode. Google wasn’t really helping so I decided to try a search on this forum and found this. The guide is well made and I was finished in a matter of minutes.
I’m on to the next step and downloading Unraid and setting that up.
